This page is called Ayan's Miscellany as a nod to his book AN ESSENTIAL MEDICAL MISCELLANY (to which there is a link below). Meanwhile here is some miscellany about Ayan himself, including his work as a doctor:
Ayan has a degree in medicine from the Imperial College School of Medicine and has been a doctor for ten years and a GP for six years.
He worked in hospital NHS posts in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey and now works in a very busy general practice in Harringay, North London.
He is a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA)
and has MBBS MRCGP DRCOG DFFP after his name reflecting his medical qualifications.
Clinically, Ayan is a true generalist. He firmly believes that the skill of a GP lies in specialising in being a generalist. He is interested in psychology in medicine, men's health, illness prevention, integrated medicine and nutrition.
Ayan appeared regularly on TV first in Street Doctor on BBC1 in January 2007 (showreel and clips just below and to the left)
He has written two books, the first of which was on medical trivia called AN ESSENTIAL MEDICAL MISCELLANY - (click the link below and to the right to find out more).
Ayan had to have emergency surgery as a teenager.
He has appeared as an expert on various radio stations including Smooth Radio, BBC Asian Network and various local radio stations. He is currently on BBC LDN 94.9 on Monday mornings.
Ayan occasionally thought about leaving medicine for a career in the music business whilst he was at medical school, and is an accomplished singer.
He takes an omega-3 supplement every day.
Ayan thinks that many of the illnesses of today are caused by the modern world around us.
He would love to play the part ofJudas again in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar (so if Andrew Lloyd Webber is reading this, please give his agent a call)!
Ayan lives in St Albans, Hertfordshire was born in Rochford, Essex but went to school in Brighton in East Sussex. He is married to a psychiatrist and has a young son.
Ayan works in a media advisory, PR and medical expert capacity for various companies and organisations on a freelance basis through his agent. Email Natalie Zietcer - natalie@jamesgrant.co.uk
Ayan wears jackets by Paul Smith, Dolce & Gabbana, Oswald Boateng and Ted Baker in the pictures on this website and linked sites.
His fave day time drink is white peony or mint green tea. After dark it's a different story!
